Inclusive activities for SEND families in Gateshead

Our events are created as safe, welcoming, and non‑judgemental spaces where children and young people with SEND — and their siblings — can enjoy time together in an environment designed with their needs in mind. Every event is planned to be calm, accessible, and family‑friendly, giving parent carers the chance to relax and connect with others who understand their journey.

All of our events are completely free. Tickets are available only to families on our mailing list so we can make sure each event remains comfortable, supported, and inclusive. You can join the mailing list at any time by completing the form on the Register tab.

Events

Throughout the year, we host a range of events:

  • Children’s Summer Party — soft play, crafts, party food, and a relaxed space for children and siblings to have fun together.
  • Children’s Christmas Party — soft play, festive crafts, party food, and a special visit from Santa in a calm, SEND‑friendly environment.
  • Sensory Theatre Event — an immersive, gentle performance designed to engage children with sensory needs in a supportive setting.
  • Teenager Event — a space tailored for older young people to socialise, take part in activities, and feel part of a community that understands them.

Parent Carer Events

Alongside our children’s events, we run regular gatherings just for parent carers in Gateshead. These sessions are calm, welcoming spaces where you can chat openly, share experiences, and connect with others who truly understand the challenges and joys of caring for a child with SEND. There’s no pressure to talk — just a friendly environment where you can take a breather and feel supported.

Monthly Coffee Mornings

We meet on the third Wednesday of each month, from 9:30am to 11:30am, at the Metrocentre Community Hub. These mornings offer:

    • A relaxed space to meet other parent carers
    • Opportunities to ask questions and share experiences
    • Regular visits from professionals and guest speakers who can offer guidance and information

These sessions are free to attend and open to all parent carers in Gateshead.

Breaks in June, August, and December

We pause our coffee mornings during June, August, and December as we host other key events during these months:

    • June – Carers Week Pamper Day A well‑deserved treat for parent carers, with relaxing treatments such as manicures and massages, plus a delicious buffet.
    • August – Children’s Summer Party A fun, inclusive celebration with soft play, crafts, and party food for children with SEND and their siblings.
    • December – Children’s Christmas Party A festive event with soft play, crafts, party food, and a special visit from Santa in a calm, SEND‑friendly environment.
